Hi. Just bought a Gen 2 Diavel. Absolutely love it. Just looking at getting a decent chain and padlock (they have ground anchors where I park at work). It’s quite a tight fit through the spokes on the rear wheel. Just wondered what other people were using when chaining the bike to something. Cheers, Jamie

Welcome to the forum.

For my bikes I just use the Oxford heavy duty chains which are reasonably priced and rated 'sold secure'. Perfectly adequate for my requirements as I have the bikes chained to ground anchors in a locked/alarmed garage.

I know bike theft is a big problem in the UK, so I guess you need to look at your requirements as firstly you'll want something that's reasonably easy to transport in a backpack or whatever, and how secure is the work car park (lots of people around, CCTV etc?)
You probably want to go for as thick a chain as possible that will fit through your wheel, the other thing is don't get a longer chain than you need as you want to limit the chain laying on the ground for instance as that makes it easier for a scumbag with an angle grinder to get good access.

I'd be looking for something with 16mm or bigger links that is guaranteed bolt cutter proof and at least highly resistant to HSS saw attacks. Not a bad idea to have a lock for the chain that is not only beefy and shares the same attributes as the chain but also with an integral alarm.

Of course the other limiting factor is budget, as the better quality you get the higher the price!

Thanks man, much appreciated. I have an Oxford beast chain in the garage but it doesn’t fit through the wheel! I’ll get a different chain, like you say, 16mm should be fine. Work place parking is generally pretty safe during the daytime. There are also ground anchors to use. I’ll probably get one of those new litelok x3 u locks too.
Safe riding.

I've never actually purchased a chain lock for my bike before, but there was this one instance when I needed to leave my bike parked for about a month. In that situation, I borrowed a chain lock from a friend, and I believe he was using a chain lock similar to the one found here: "Heavy-Duty Motorcycle Chain Lock". I must say, it seemed to be of quite impressive quality, giving off a sense of durability. You can check this one out.

This the setup I am using since 10 years and highly recommended one.

and good padlocks ofcourse.
AntiPinch Pin requires proper Squire padlock (good choice anyway) and I have also another one (good deal years ago from ex military sources) Assa Abloy very thought one.
You can use longer chain and just one padlock on end of AntiPinch Pin.

good luck if I have inspired you 😈
