fuel sensor problems

my fuel sensor warning light on my Diavel is flashing and the petrol gage has stopped working. Is it worth while replacing it (will it last) or can a bypass sensor be fitted cheaply?

Hate to say this but the sensor replacement will fail again, even the latest versions. If it manages to pass the one year warranty it will be out of pocket again, $300. Get the bypass and be done with it like many are opting to do on this site. BTW, Multi-Strada are failing even more for some unknown reason!

At 39K miles now, '15 Gen2...

On second fuel sensor bike was over 2 year warranty. Replaced under RPM1 extended warranty..Around a few hundered bucks parts/labor if memory serves.

Old sensor almost get me killed when bike ran out of gas on Interstate rush hour traffic about 80mph. Gauge read about a quarter tank full.
Was not fun!!!!!!!!!
All cars behind me realized my motor was dead, all lanes slowed down and let me proceed to the shoulder, then had to walk the bike about a quarter miles to the next exit.

Purchased my 2015 Diavel Carbon Red Dec 2019 with 849 miles on it. After the first fill up! Fuel Sensor took a dump. It works on off whenever it feels like it. I noticed it really acts up when bike temp gets above 200 degrees. Even in AZ 100 heat it never gets above 219 once fan kicks on. I purchased a two year warranty so I know it's covered but, with this rona zombie takeover I went ahead and got the bypass connector. Filled the bike up let the fuel sensor reset, then unplugged OEM and installed Bypass Connector! Sweet No fuel sensor failure! Excitement was short lived when the damn low fuel light warning came on!!! I was all what the heck! Immediately stopped took piccs and emailed ebay seller. Ugh so annoying! I really wanted this to work. I hate the dealer poking a prodding on my bike all the time people are careless and dumb. Any suggestions?

...but you got a two year warranty and paid for it with a good dollar amount, have the dealer fix it, why mess with it in the first place, make the dealer good for it!

Problem is that the warranty covers the part, but not the labor. You are still several hundred out of pocket for each one. I've heard it is more prevalent in areas where ethanol blends are used, which in the US is just about everywhere, so do yourself a favor and bypass because if it hasn't failed yet, it will.
I've always ridden/driven via odometer anyways, but the flashing carnival lights all over the displays was too distracting and irritating.

Question Bud?

Since what OEM factory warranty, or aftermarket extended warranty only covers the part and not the labor?

That's not good for us to confirm what he told you, find out the part number and rev to check for you, I keep a list of what worked thus far, none!

i have a 2015 diavel carbon
Im putting the 3rd fule sensor in mine and now i have 5500 miles
1st fule sensor was at 1200 miles
2nd was about a 1000 after that so aorund 2200 but i think it was close to 2000
3rd is now at 5500
all work was done by Ducati cause i purchase a 5 year extended warranty
But Ducati should really figure out something about this sensor cause its a stupid problem it should be recalled cause it can be dangerous like if u run out of gas
