Wanting a 1260S -- some questions.

Hello. Leaning towards a 2021 because I don't like matte finish. Are there any differences between 2021 and 2023 other than colors?
Also will the ohlins suspension be appropriate for me at 230lbs in full gear?
Will there be tank/ethanol issues? And why does this bike not have a metal tank like the XDiavel?
Also have the rear brake problems carried over to the Diavel?
Thanks for any advice.

@Noggie just a comment / question about the tail bag since you also have that. When I installed it I noticed that the straps you fux under the seat for holding the bag were very short, meaning much shorter than they are supposed to be. I managed by extending the holding straps on the bag to the absolute maximum length, so it works fine and I really like this bag but I found it it a little strange that they made the straps so extremely short. Did you have the same?
There is a thread on the forum I made on the bag, the manual is in that thread.
But yes, I had to more or less exited the straps in the bag fully to make it fit.

I have actually the same plan to put early this season, meaning relatively soon the PPF film on the yellow plate under the seat to protect it from stones.
Have discussed with the company who will do that also about foiling the tank with PPF foil and they say they can do it but the problem is the logo. Obviously they cannot foil over so they need to cut the logos out and I am not totally sure yet if that will be perfect so have not decided on the tank yet.

On my red 2020, the Ducati logo is white paint or vinly under the clear coat, same as the underseat panel.
You could ask if they could just make a new logo with stickers for you.

I put the white wrap on the sides, but also a clear one on the center of the tank to protect from skuffs from zippers on your clothes. has worked great, but its a little matte compared to paint and PPF, so I'm considering changing it.
You can see the vinyl on the V, that has worked perfect for 3 seasons now, same with the white on the side of the tank.

Thnaks for the info about the thread, I basically experienced the same but with my bag followed a manual.

You will definitely want to crank up the rear spring preload 3 or 4 turns. It is not easy to adjust, so make the dealer do it prior to delivery of the bike.
I'm 185 with gear and I cranked my rear preload up 1.75 turns and it was a noticeable improvement. I know I need another half turn or so.

Update on my rear spring preload.
I purchased the Slacker and found out that even after my preload adjustment, my sag is double what it should be.
120mm rear travel should have 20 to 30mm sag. Mine was 62mm; I could feel it was riding low, just didn't realize it was THAT low. Amazon sells the Ohlins specific shock wrench if you decide to adjust your own shock.

I don’t remember the thread here where I read this but, basically, measuring sag on Diavel’s suspension is pointless - it sags differently than other bikes.

I tried setting the suspension up by measuring sag and it turned out to be an unrideable mess.

Good rule of thumb is to start from default settings (can be found in the user manual) and adjust the setup towards your weight.
