Just saw the same......

Must say I've got mixed emotions about this.
I like the design and the thing looks great, but I'm not sure about the V4, I think the Diavel should be the brutal twin.
I'm sure the V4 runs smooth and great, I just think it might be a bit too refined for a Diavel.

I like progress and evolution, the look I like in general, not sure about he front indicator position, and the "dotted" style rear lights, and why on earth can't they move the rear indicators under the seat !!!

This makes me think it looks more like a cross between a diavel and xdiavel, and has mid controls. Wonder if will keep twin for Xdiavel or not. The bodywork and engine of the V4 sure don't have that diavel edge in looks department.

Looks like a pumped-up streetfighter to me. Not ugly; Ducati designers did a good job, just a different Diavel.
177 HP and 24 kg less with the racing exhaust sounds lovely, though.

Maybe they’ll make Pirelli Diablo Rosso IVs available in our dimension now.

Looks terrible in my opinion. Just all of it. The front turn signals look awful and the exhaust left me speechless. The only plus I see is the improved screen and graphics but not a deal breaker for me and my 1260 S black and steel. Glad I have that one.
yeag buddy. We lucked out and grabbed ours at the right time! Love the black and steel livery.
this winter I’m wrapping the tank sides black with a full yellow centre tank piece. Adding a few amber accents to the air intake and rad cover panels as well as some cool (imo) lettering for either side. Seat will get custom embroidering as well. Few other ideas but I need to finish computer models before I but those items. Everything reversible, but it’ll make her my own for sure. Already did some rim accents.

I do like the v4 for sure. It’s still a ducati, but to me it’s no longer a Diavel. No L twin, no trellis… I own my dream bike (22’ black and steel) but I’m sure many will like the newer model. I do see that design wise it looks a lot more like a muscle car, but it’s not for me.

oh and imo the claimed power increase is fluff. Extra ponies to keep it powerful as exhaust restrictions get worse every year. Am I seeing 10 less torque on this? No Tks.
Let’s be honest, the move to v4 is mainly for manufacturing ease not for performance.

it’s a nice bike for sure! Be happy to test drive it this spring. I def won’t be trading mine in tho.

Agreed. I am sure it’s a more refined bike, but no more treillis, no more cool indicators under the seat and integrated un the radiator. The screen is nice, but I like the screen on the tank on my version. All these details made the bike special and different from other bikes. The exhaust makes the rear bulky. Most important the V4 has less torque. I can careless of additional hp at the top end. I like the raw power of the VTwin. The only improvement I see is the weight reduction, but I managed to shed another 5kg on my Carbon (lithium battery, Carbon headlight, etc), so I am just 6kg heavier with more torque.

The weight savings can easily be obtained on the 1260
by changing to a lithium battery and adding an aftermarket exhaust. Done. I just don’t see the beauty honestly in the new bike. I think the panigale looks great so does the street fighter. Even the super sport. This new diavel us too much of a bad thing. Already showed it to non-motorcyclelists and the conclusion is the same. Not that inspiring.

They had potential of doing an integrated front turn signal into the body. They could have done the same with the rear turn signal instead of having it on the license plate. The exhaust design is also very divisive. The racing exhaust looks better imo but it’s out for anyone not wanting to get a ticket or violation.

Also a bit more horsepower with more revs and lower torque does not seem like a plus to me. As someone go lives in Europe the exhaust will never sound awesome with all the restrictions Euro5 has in place. All the EU countries want silent motorcycles and they are pushing towards that with every new regulation.

Diavel replacement or supercharged monster?

I think it should be called the Ducati Monster V4 Max 😉

Diavel has been superior to Multistrada on peak power before. That's reasonable, because Diavel is onroad use while Multistrada is multipurpose use.
But Diavel V4's peak power is 168ps, inferior to Multstrada‘s 170ps.
If Diavel V4 has higher torque at low and middle range then made expectable that Diavel was faster than Multistrada V4 on usual riding, meny riders would accept the less peak power. However as far as checking torque chart Diavel's torque seems almost same as Mutistrada and difference looks only RPM of peak torque. That's strange.

I guess Diavel V4 must be faster than 1260 on track races though, think 1260 is faster than V4 at start of usual riding.

On my eyes 1260 looks bold and beautiful, V4 does only bold.

Lots of posts before me..........not keeping up :)

I was excited about the V4, but unfortunately (yet predictably) we got the Multistrada version instead of the Panigale/Streetfighter version. So that is a major let-down.

I also wondered if there will be another XDiavel - this one seems to be a blend of the two.

I would have been seriously tempted by an XDiavel with the Panigale motor and streetfighter headlight........but looks like I''ll get to be content keeping my $30K in my pocket.........

The Ducati V4s I've heard (YouTube and in person) must have all had stock exhaust and had no discernable or distinctive sound. I've heard an Aprilla on YouTube and it was amazing. Not sure if it was stock or not, and not sure what the Ducati V4 sounds like with the right pipes.

Anybody else ?

Speaking of gen1.. this new v4 for me is so far gone from where the Diavel started it’s hard for me to see a Diavel.

Good point too! No rev up or fly by or idle exhaust sounds in any promo leaves me to believe it sounds weak af stock.
this new bike has me feeling my age. Lol, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one having a hard time loving it. And I love all diavels, all colours, all types. Up till now. I’m gonna try and book a test ride as soon as possible. Hopefully get some good pics, vids and hands on experience.

Members of this Forum are probably more lukewarm about the new Ducati V4 Mega Monster than others on other social media.

Ducati is probably pioneering in its design and will ride the V4 engine wave. But that's what the new riders are looking for, engines with less vibration and similar riding experiences to other bikes. Double interval for valve check will be good...

But is spent on feedback on fuel consumption. Like the Panigale and V4 MTS, this has of course increased compared to the 1260 engine.

But we probably just have to face the new reality from Bologna. But Xdiavel will soon be historically untouched since 2016...

The first Diavel, was what called me back to Ducati after owning a 748s and monster S4r before. At the time we were moving house and to many costs, so the Diavel was a dream, still got the little hard back promotional book/catalogue they had at launch.
Roll on a few years and was more in position to afford and then saw the xdiavel was coming out, so had a test ride and at first was unsure of the forward controls but now love it! I like how its like a cruiser but not and handles so good compared to typical cruisers, and the looks etc still now many who not seen are like wow.
Wonder if will keep the xdiavel as is until emissions gets it, with minor model revs, for the Diavel V4 to does not quite have the diavel style, a shame the trellis was lost totally, and the engine looks to a bit to like covered and not raw.

@Ghorgon63 I think that is a great observation.

I’m only assuming, but I believe I’m probably younger than the average age on the forum, but I don’t believe that Ducati hit the nail with this design in my opinion. The younger generation wants more tech and design. People are buying a Ducati for the history as much as the beauty in the motorcycle. Tech and Italians hasn't been a thing from what I have gathered. I have nothing against the engine and can definitely live with the change from that end. They could have done a new front light blade with directional or dynamic movement. One of the cool features of the Diavel 1260. The same goes for the rear turn signal. Would have been amazing to make an outer brake signal an amber turn signal 😎 The gattling gun exhaust is a definitely a divider in my opinion. There will be people in both camps. I mean come on for 27k. The BMW have great electronics and I feel that now Ducati is stepping up to the plate. The LCD screen on my Diavel 1260 is a joke with what they could have put on the motorcycle with the technology available.

Just my two kroner. 😃

Yeah, I was quite surprised to see the 1260 Diavel use much less fuel than my BMW S1000R i4 engine.
The BMW typically gave me 6,4l/100km, and the Diavel is at 4,3l/100km, thats 30% less fuel.
Having twice the "mouths to feed" does make a difference, displacement less so......

I guess we have the last of the "big bang" twins then..... Might be sought after in the future.

Oh, and I consider myself 45 years young :)
