Steering unlock error!

Well...... as the title says today I had the pleasure of an electronic failure. Short story: Went to dealership to test ride the new Diavel 1260s. I will discuss that in the Diavel 1260 forum. After I rode it, I went to start my bike and steering would not unlock. Fortunately I was at a dealership and techs were literally 10 feet in front of me. They tried to connect diagnostics but bike won't even stay powered up long enough. Tried resetting pin and removing gas tank but no joy. Disconnected battery for 30 minutes but that didn't work either. Reluctantly had to leave it at dealership because even if I towed it home, I do not have a way to diagnose it. Anyone else have this issue?

Already had the key fob recall completed.

ohhh gee, as they say in Wisconsin. As Crussell said, it happened to me with 176 miles on the bike. It took the dealer a couple of weeks to get the parts and they replaced the hands free module. There is a special no tamper bolt that holds the module on, so a bit more complicated.
Good luck, at least you were at the dealer. My bike was in my garage, had to put the front wheel on a dolly to get it out onto the dealer's truck.
Did they give you a loaner bike?

Yeah, I feel that I am more likely to have a steering lock issue than to have the bike stolen so I don't use the locking feature. I hate that I can't trust it, but with all of the reports of steering lock issues that make the bike 100% unusable and very difficult to get to a dealer, I'll just leave mine unlocked.

Hope yours is fixed soon (and I would suggest not locking it anymore).

I've actually came across the steering issue. Dropped off my wife at a concert, turned off the bike. Then tried to turn it on and the fob would not respond to the bike. I sat there for about 10mins. Fiddling around with the buttons. While I was parked there I was getting compliments on how nice the bike was, lol. Anyways, last resort I took the battery out of the fob for a minute. Then reinstalled it, and it actually worked. So if anyone has had issues with the key fob not being detected try that out

Tried removing key fob battery. Tried without key fob and just pin code. Even disconnected motorcycle battery for 20 minutes and nothing. Only thing I didn't try was Red key because it was at home not with me.

Bike has been sitting inside Dealer since Saturday evening so hopefully tomorrow morning when they try it first time it will unlock. If not they will start trying to replace handsfree unit.

Finally got my bike back yesterday. Only took forever. When I picked it up, they told me it was $855 and asked how I was going to pay. I laughed and reminded them it was warranty but nice trying to get me cover it. What the hell happened to attention to detail and customer service. I never use that particular dealer but that was the dealership I happened to be at when my bike broke.

All works now. I will never use steering lock again. I'd rather have the bike stolen and have insurance buy me a new one.
