My son helped me install the OpenFlash Termignoni exhaust on Saturday.

Getting Ready
Removed the old exhaust -- You can do it with the tools under your seat.
Installed
The install was pretty straightforward. Instructions were clear. We had a clearance issue with the rear brake mechanism after the initial fit, but with some wiggling and rotating, we were able to make it fit.
Wider View
There were some squeaks and chirpy noises during the shakedown run. I will go through the nuts and bolts and make sure everything is bolted down.
After starting it up, my son and I both said "Oh Shit that's loud" and we promptly installed the DB Killer.
After a few rides, take out the dB killer and see how you like it. After the initial break-in of the packing material, the sound will soften up a bit. Most customers run without the dB killer and think the sound level is just right
In this photo, you can see that the midpipe is separate from the termignoni can.
You could fashion a midpipe with a different angle.
The adapter bar (in my son's right hand) connects the can to the rearset. You could modify this one or create your own.
I'm starting to get a bit worried. I'm getting the full Termi system, and I want it to be louder. But I have a Sena SMH-10 headset attached to my helmet... will I still be able to hear my music while I ride??!
fully open exhaust whether termi or slip-on is l-o-u-d. I wear E-A-R foamies for protection and in ear headphones when i want music. The more isolating (deep in your ear canal) headphones, the better. My Bose in ear headphones make beautiful music, but don't seal off enough of the exhaust "music", so no point in using them.
I presume your Sena in helmet headset uses speakers that are outside your ear canal and therefore will allow full exhaust roar to compete with your tunes. Not a reason, in my mind to NOT install an exhaust, but if high fidelity headphones are very important to you, then loud exhaust is going to be a challenge.
I wouldn't trade my exhaust for a higher level of musical enjoyment (and I LOVE my tunes!), but with some experimentation, you can find a way to play tunes for sure... but it will require in ear headphones.
I have soldered a 3.5mm jack into the speaker lead on my inter phone setup so I can use my Ultimate Ear moulded earphones or the in helmet speakers depending on mood / requirement
Is that with foam earplugs? They must be fantastic speakers - I need to switch from the interphone setup if that's the case
Can you hear music throughout the Rev range and at motorway speeds - what about gps directions?
Thanks Hubel -- that's what I really wanted to know. I don't particularly like setting up earbuds, running wires down my jacket, etc. Plus, with earbuds, I can't control my music without pulling my phone out. I plan on using the exhaust anyway, but having to use earbuds to listen to music while riding would be far from ideal!
Hi chrislea,
I have full Termi's (dB killers OUT and discarded) and SENA SMH-5 headset. Absolutely no problem hearing music at sub 4K rpm, just need to turn the volume up a little. As for above 4K rpm, well....the only music I'm listening to then is the bike's exhaust.
Two other points
1.As Shiv has mentioned, the exhaust tone has soften ever so slightly from initial installation and is not causing me as much anxiety about attracting the constabulary in a 2km radius.
2. With the music playing, I don't seem to be getting the ringing in the ears as much as I did with just the constant tone of the exhaust. Maybe that's just me.
PS. Ringing in the ears - REALLY BAD! Unfortunately, didn't listen to my elders 30+ years ago and have some permanent hearing issues (at least that's what my wife says......heh, heh), but shit happens..........and Oh that Giannali racing exhaust sounded sooooooo sweeeeeet!
They are customer filtered earplugs. On the Sena, GPS instructions and intercoms come in louder than the music for some reason but up to 100mph you can hear it. It's more like listening to a car radio than ear buds as you still hear road noise, exhaust etc but then again it would be dangerous to block all that out in my opinion.
A friend of mine has a Diavel with the Competition Werkes slip on with no baffles that is too loud if you ask me and he uses a Sena with foam ear plugs and can still hear whats going on through the speakers.
I've never cranked up the volume all the way... but I got my full Termi system, recently started riding without baffles, and it's no problem. Except under hard acceleration, but let's be honest, in those moments I don't care about my music!
How does it run without the DB Killer installed and without re-flashing the ECU? Better, worse? I've been thinking about this pipe but I don't really want to re-flash the ecu while my bike is still covered under warranty.
If you're running Termis and using Ducati's upmap, warranty isn't a problem. But opening up the exhaust without remapping won't do you much good... even if you use an aftermarket tuner, most (such as OpenFlash) will allow you to revert back to stock tune, which you could do prior to taking the bike in for service.
this is great. another thread. i am now more determined with my purchase. im still considering on just getting the slip on pipe and doing some DIY works on fabricating the adaptor for the pipe and not getting the ecu though... it is still a $400 difference. but, im already itching to buy this slip on months ago. so hard to decide.
only slip-on for now. the Diavel has plenty grunt for me out-da-box. just needs a little more 'roar'... and it would be a sin not to go Termi. and you can beat the price and the end result as far as looks go.
I'd still recommend remapping the ECU. Runs lean enough with the stock exhaust, but Termi's are more open, which has the effect of running the engine even leaner. A good fuel map will smooth out the engine, especially at lower RPM's, not just give it a bit more power.
Gen 2, purchased the Termi slip on (with cat) and always run without baffles. No need to reflash on the Gen 2. Sound is just incredible, the before and after videos on YouTube of stock compared to Termi simply do not do the Termis justice.
Open Flash Termi looks awesome on my CarbonRed... Thanks again Shiv
Sounds amazing with no DB-buster... Yikes!! Snap-Crackle-Pop
