sure is a difference, i just ordered a new set of oem pirelli and recieved same as later pic posted. Some manufactures use more detailed parts during shows and exhibits and have little read between the lines sections to cover this up. jmo but none the less good eye

I was always taught not to mix and match tires. I saw a pretty decent price for a pair for the bike, just trying to plan ahead since I've already put 1,600 miles on the bike over 5 weeks.
I think you were actually thinking of this saying ..,

I know this not to mix and match bias and radials, but do you think it matters when it's just a sligtly different tread pattern by the same manufacturer?

I don't think that there's a problem with having different brands front and back.
Front and rear tyres are made completely different because if huge very different jobs they have to do.
Just have the best available for either end and all should be ok.
