Installing Ducati Diavel touring accessories

Hi, I am very new to the Ducati Diavel . I am a Triumph, Suzuki, Excelsior Henderson kind of guy. I just got a 2013 Blue version. I have searched this forum and can't find anyone who walks through the installation of the pannier kit. I have heard that it takes a special Ducati tool, a ECU flash for the new taillights to work and so one. That seems a bit much to me. Has anyone here installed that kit personally? If so, could you describe it a bit to me? I'm not looking to know if H-B is better or a Givi bag. I just want to learn about the installation of the OEM pannier set-up.

PM Larzini for a source to quality aftermarket hard bags for the Diavel w/latches instead of cheap ass zippers on soft bags...OEM diavel bag stuff is garbage in my opinion...well maybe not garbage, but surely not BUILT TO LAST!

I went the other way and Removed it and installed the Stock Tail Lights. It is simple to do but, you will have to go to the Dealer and get the lights Programmed for a Strada. I had to make mine from the Strada to Standard. It cost me about $50.

That manual does help. I'll have to give it some thought. I was hoping that someone had done the work so I could learn from them.

I have not bought them yet. But there is a dealer about 2 hrs away that seems reasonable. Why?

I did the install last winter. Are you planning on using the signal lights that comes with the kit?

I guess was planning to use the kit lights. The HB rack lets you use the old lights, but it looks like a diving board sticking out of the back of the bike. If I could use the original lights, I would. I was thinking that maybe I didn't have to install the kit lights. I could just use the passenger handle/pannier bracket with the rack and back rest n only use the bags when I needed them. . The bags wouldn't be on to cover the lights from the side. Can I get away with plunging the holes in bracket where tail lights mount and just use the lights that God gave it?? What do you think Baron??

I purchased a 2015 Carbon about a month ago and ordered the touring kit. The kit took about 2.5 weeks to arrive at my dealer. It is a lot of small parts in a lot of small boxes and bags in addition to the larger hard parts of the windscreen, the backrest and the subframe. The windscreen was very easy to install and took about 20 minutes. The rear subframe took a great deal longer but the instructions were reasonable (not excellent) for the subframe assembly. I spent about 4 hours total with that portion. There is a special tool that would have been very helpful but it is possible to the install without it. A large allen wrench (more than 10mm) would be useful but I had nothing large enough. Fortunately, a hex head bolt and two jam nuts will do the main task followed by a screwdriver and hammer trick to torque down the locking ring. I'll have the dealership torque correctly when it goes in for service next week but its functional for now. There are no instructions for the pannier install but it was fairly self-explanatory. You will have to have the dealership reflash the ECU to allow the the center tail light to act as the brake light since the factory wiring will make the newly installed turn signals act as the brake lights. I read that you can use a Tuneboy with a Euro tune and that will correct the problem as well but that gets pretty pricey...

Thanks. I got it all set. The only hitch was that Ducati didn't send a pair of locks for the bags. The dealer stole some off an existing bike to give me and then ordered some more from Ducati. They are needed to hold the bags on.The touring seat is way better than the OEM. I had the windshield on pretty fast too. The rear pegs don't like to fold up, though. The touch the bag brackets.

Sorry to bother you, but do you still have the installation instructions for fitting the touring kit?
