Even just knowing the specs would be super helpful. I'd like to look into replacing mine proactively, but I am not keen to start the job without the replacement part in hand. Too much downtime.

Hi ALL.
When i purchased my Diavel (last year) a 2012 model with 8000 miles on her, the rear suspension started squeaking almost straight away, shop i bought it from refurbished the rear shock (under warranty)
.
Still squeaked, then after looking on here i advised them that it was most likely the rose joint knackered, long long story short, the bolt holding the bearing refused to come out even with extreme heat.
They had to cut swing arm in two to get it out, and then fitted new one for me, again under warranty. evidently the bush ducati use is shit, can't cope with the british weather!!.
Found a firm to provide much better spec bearing and had them fit that with lots of grease, also every month i loosen the bolt holding it in and then re tighten it to make sure it does not seize again.
Good job it happened just before three month warranty expired or i would have been into it for in excess of £1000 (dodged a bullet there).
John.

I have my old on that i could measure up, I guess I could get an accuracy of .01mm with the calipers I have, all you would get is diameters and the width
ID, OD, width, and maybe a photo would be most helpful !!

johnd that sounds like a right mare. On my bike I have fitted a soft rubber mud guard right in front of shock bush, I attached it to the cable run mounting points that goes along the top of the swing arm in front of the rear wheel and zip tied it to the swing arm at the bottom, it keeps all the road dirt from hitting the rear shock and bushes.

Here you go. if you can't see the images then PM me and I'll send over the full res images, dimensions are in millimetres, and in case you can't read my writing, clockwise from the 11 O'clock position they are, 31.82, 15, 28.34 (internal ball diameter), 20.9 and 16.2.

For those interested, I found two choices available online (there are many more if you go to a bearing house). Both are UK sources:

Nice looking, but little info on construction, and very high shipping charge.

Good price, detailed specifications, free shipping, maintenance free (important, I think). I ordered one of these and will see how it works out.

My bro-in-law is a manager at a bearing distributorship and has gotten me bearings for my 1976 Apache pop-up trailer gear boxes; all he needs is the manufacturer and part number, both which are stamped on or in the bearing, and he can likely get it. If the USA people need a more "local" source I can ask him about it, however, anyone living in a big city could likely go to their local bearing distributor and do the same.

John.
Exactly the same happened to me, had to cut the swing arm. It's just gone again after less than 10,000 miles. Hopefully they won't have to cut the swing arm again... :0/

On my 2015 @ 14K miles, hopefully my rose joint will go out before this coming August when factory warranty expires, or before 08/2021 when my RPM One Extended Service Contract expires!

Today I decided to check my rose joint. It was fine. Here's a photo showing its location:

just a related question, what do you guys use to "lift" the bike without a rear stand, I mean to free totally the rear shock (the Under T front lift releases well the pressure on ythe fork, but for REAR, any solution ?)
Seems mine is done...
