I just took off my rear wheel (2018 XDS) for the first time. I notice there are four notches that I thought should house rubber dampers on the inner side, closest to the hub. Those notches are empty, however.
Am I missing the dampers? I looked up the rear wheel diagram, and I don't see any mention of dampers. Does anyone know?

be carefull during during the mounting that the pins go into the round holes in the wheel :-)

In this video, around the 2.06 mark, you can see the rubber dampers I'm talking about. They go in the wheel, not the hub.

Yeah, that's curious. I can't image the function of those small rubber inserts; and I agree with you that they are not shown on 2018 parts diagrams. Maybe they were on a different year model? I wouldn't worry for a moment about them. I know my Diavel Carbon Red didn't have them.

Never seen that rubber part @2:06.
But they are not for the 4 pin,not space.
Maybe for blind out some other things

My BMW has them, supposedly they dampen vibrations.

my MY 19 has not these rubbers and they would make no sense in this postion. the wheel axis has to be mounted without any loose ....

the damping rubbers are normally mounted in the last gear ... to prevent force peaks.

If you look at your belt side, you will see / notice under the six sprocket nuts there are dampers/ some kind of rubber. So this vibration are been taking care of.

I don't have them on mine. Changed wheels and they are not there.

Rubber dampers as such were fitted into the oval holes on the early XDiavel s models, as it was possible to mount the wheels onto the slots instead of mounting the wheels onto the location pins. This was a recall but if you do not have them in the wheels it is not a problem just make sure that you line up the pins on the hub into the wheel holes
