Hello all,

Seems like one of the ebay sellers agreed to my price... so I guess I am the new owner of a full Termi Carbon Fiber system. Question: do I have to get it installed by a Ducati dealer or a certified third party Ducati mechanic can assist? The Diavel is a brand new 2013 with 600 miles service done on Wednesday, so I am looking out for the warranty fine print here.

No you can install it yourself. If you have the Ducati Dealership install it, it's what ever the dealership charges per man hour. (shop rate) Out of a 1-5 difficulty, it's about a 3.5 to a 4 for a novice mechanic.

Any idea on Ceramic Coating prices? Besides looks, seems like it reduces the heat of the pipes by 33%...

Not really no one has conclusively proven it to me and we've tested a customers pipes without and with, there wasn't an discernible difference. Personally, I think it's waste of money but If you like the looks then go for it.

I think they need of be coated inside and out to really cut the heat, if only coated outside then the pipes still absorb the heat, coating the inside helps push the heat out back instead of heating the pipes.

The 33% heat reduction info comes from the factory ceramic coated Termis available for a bit more money... Not sure if it true but here it is:

Gen 1 needs to have the ECU replaced and that's where you labor costs increase as the tank and covers / air scoops have to come off. Dealer says it's about a 4 hour job for Gen 1 and about 1.5 to 2 hours tops for the Gen 2 full Termi, as the ECU is not replaced, just a plug is added under the seat.

Not sure what generation this is(frankly I had no idea there were more than 1 versions of this exhaust) but it comes with filter and ECU.

True but it takes less than 10 minutes to remove the covers and 2 hours to replace the exhaust. The ECU is a plug and play on the Gen I, so all you have to do is; unplug, pull it out and plug in the new Race ECU then reinstall the covers. The tough part of the job is; dropping the battery box to get to the forward manifold. It's not difficult, just time consuming. You don't change the rear cylinder exhaust manifold, it's strictly a slide out and side in proposition.

On the Gen II it's the same for the exhaust and is a USB drive for upload for the upmap. Everything is about the same except for the removal of the cover to access the ECU.

I encourage you to read some of the pitfalls of ceramic coating.... you need to have the can taken apart and riveted back, plus carefull with what you spill on them and the bother if it does go wrong at some point. I know there are a few ifs but have a read through anyway. Wouldn't really be telling you this if you had a dark model but yours is quite a lively bright coloured scheme and IMHO would be complemented nicely just with polished pipes at a fraction of the cost and less hassle as a bonus. It's your bike though

I appreciate everyone's input, positive or negative. If the coating involves taking the can apart as Agent003 mentioned... it will be a game changer. As mentioned in my first posting, I am trying to gather some info on how to proceed with the exhaust once received. Seen plenty of pics of the non coated and coated Termis and the all black goes with most color combos as seen in this pic... specially if I get the black air scoops:

I am waiting to hear back from the ceramic coat company and will take it from there.

As mentioned earlier, appreciate all the feedback.

The only downside besides chipping it off is,,,that you can not use it on the inside surface of boosted applications because if it chips off it will harm the impellers..
It is important to do inside and outside for barrier and velocity reasons to work..

yep, and that's my gripe with it....

once it chips water gets under it then it wants to chip off a little more....

it's better than most paints for sure but don't fall for the idea that it is a complete do it once and forever perfect finish cos that it ain't....

only personal experience I've had with it was on a V8 racing boat we used to run a few years back.....

What's the average price of full termi ? $3.5k ?

I bought mine for $2975 from a dealer,,others have found them on E-Bay for $2500, I wish I would have been that lucky to find that deal..

Craigslist had one here in Scottsdale for $2,100 but I had my Monster back then. I offered $2,500 shipped and the seller accepted.
